Writing. Producing.
I’ve worked as a writer and producer since graduating from Columbia College, beginning as a journalist (NBC News, Vogue, MSN.com, Fortune.com) and moving into writing for theater, TV and film.
Career highlights:
Theater. My first play, So Close, premiered at Walkerspace in NYC. It was inspired by interviews I conducted while writing for Victim Services and told the story of a violent relationship. I co-produced and acted in the independent film version (which streamed on iTunes and Amazon). My plays have been developed by The Civilians, LAByrinth Theater Co. and Primary Stages ESPA in NY, and Echo Theater Company in Dallas, and Santa Fe Playhouse. In Ways Both Frivolous and Deep was produced by Ashland New Plays Festival’s Play4Keeps podcast (Apple Podcasts and Spotify). My newest documentary play The Unbelieving will premiere in NYC in October 2022, with The Civilians at 59E59th.
TV. I co-created the short-form series Like So Many Things… that debuted on IFC, online and on the linear channel and was co-head writer for One Life to Live on Hulu. Developed comedy pilots for Hulu and Freeform. Currently I am a writer for The Young and the Restless (CBS). (Writers Guild Award and Emmy nominations.)
To support the creative work along the way, I’ve written & edited everything from questions for the board game Cranium, to non-fiction books (Maverick Mind; The Breast: An Anthology); I wrote episode guides for HBO hits like The Wire and The Sopranos and created award-winning digital features for shows like True Blood and Boardwalk Empire. I produced BTS & original digital features for AMC, Lionsgate and Turner. And was managing editor of four editions of The Cognitive Neurosciences (MIT Press). And once I was a bun-ette for the Nathan’s Famous fourth of July Hotdog Eating Contest.
